Social workers are trained in the “strengths perspective”, and utilize this training with prospective adoptive parents to help educate and build upon existing knowledge, experiences and strengths in order to prepare parents and ensure the successful transition of the child joining their family. Your social worker serves as a resource person before, during and after the home study process.
Janis Simkins, MSW, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Missouri and a long time member of the National Association of Social Workers. Her social work licensure is in good standing with an unmarred record. The practice of social work with efficiency, integrity, and ethics governed by the National Association of Social Workers are integral aspects of the services provided by Adoption Homestudies of Southwest Missouri, LLC. Janis has practiced in the field of social work in the State of Missouri since 1992. In addition to Directorship of AHSM, LLC, Janis contracts with other reputable adoption agencies to provide social work services in the field of adoption, and teaches in the fields of social work and service learning at the university level.
